The Onteora Runners Club Daniel Mawhinney Winter Running Series is Back!

Join us for a 5-week virtual running challenge, starting with the Blue Duck Dash and ending with a 1-hour “run as far as you can” event.

This series is not for the faint of heart—you’ll be running through whatever winter throws at you: cold, wind, snow, sleet, or rain.

How it works:

  • Each Friday, you’ll receive a course and a link to submit your results.
  • You have until Sunday at 11:59 PM to submit your run.
  • There will be an informal group run on the first Sunday of each week.
  • No official timing or race markings—navigation, timing, and safety are up to you.

Complete all 5 courses and earn Custom Daniel Mawhinney Winter Running Series swag! This year’s swag—a custom running trucker hat—will be even better than previous years.


Running in Memory of Dan Mawhinney

For the second year in a row the event honors our friend and fellow runner, Dan Mawhinney, who tragically passed away in his sleep on October 7, 2024. Dan was a dedicated Winter Running Series Survivor and a regular at local races.

All proceeds will support:

  • The Memorial Garden and outdoor classroom being built at Miller Middle School, where Dan was a beloved teacher.

Join us in celebrating Dan’s life and legacy while challenging yourself this winter!
